Master Chef - Digital Advertising Edition

This past week for class, my professor set up a lecture at Bake More Pies in the Tampa Bay Area. Intentionally, I was under the impression that we would be attending a bakery of some sort and talking about how they digitally advertise to the public. However, I was embarrassingly wrong, Bake More Pies is a premium digital marketing specialist with state-of-the-art art studio space, who combined technology, innovation, and expertise so that they can focus on accountability, traceability, and most importantly achieve results for their clients.

At Bake More Pies, the guest lecturer was Mike, a former colleague of my Professor and COO within the organization. He often referred to himself as being very detailed oriented and having a lot of professional experience in the digital advertising field which was evident throughout the lecture.

Mike discussed a lot of interesting topics throughout the lecture including CRM, geo-fencing, and google my business in relation to local listings. He discussed these topics because of the client we are analyzing this semester Blind Tiger.

During Mike's lecture, he discussed CRM, which stands for Customer Relationship Management, and it is the process of managing interactions with existing and prospective customers during the sales process. He discussed how Bake More Pies incorporates CRM for their clients via social media, website, advertising, and interviews. I found it interesting how prominent CRM is in digital advertising. While getting Hubspot Inbound Certified, I learned in-depth details about CR, but seeing and hearing about it in practice was more impactful.

Mike also discussed something known as geofencing, which is a location-based service by which an app or other software program uses radio frequency identification (RFID), or cellular data to trigger marketing action when a mobile device enters or exits a virtual geographic boundary. He talked about how geofencing can help Blind Tigers' rating on Google my business which would improve their locate listing. This basically means they would be placed higher on the Google search list when people search keywords.
