Why is Strategy important in Digital Media?

    Nothing in this world was ever achieved because someone randomly took a moonshot and achieved all their wildest dreams. Every detail and action, if you believe it or not, is meticulously analyzed and planned before any steps are taken; whether that be the day-to-day activities of an ordinary person or a massive corporation battling for digital market share space. Planning is an unacceptable part of the marketing world, it is involved and incorporated at every stage. In order to exceed as a digital marketer, you have to be able to strategize. When I mean strategize, I am talking about focusing one's attention on the critical issues and challenges the organization faces and developing a plan of action on how to approach them. 

    Every good digital marketer has steps they go through to achieve their company's objectives. After researching different ways to strategize, I believe these are the best 5 steps to do so: 

1. Determine the strategic position

2. Prioritize objectives 

3. Develop a strategic plan 

4. Execute and manage the plan

5. Review and revise the plan 

    When it comes to digital marketing, I personally think that step three is the most important. This step is vital because it determines the tactics necessary to attain the company's objectives, designates the timeline, and communicates responsibilities to the team. Developing the strategic plans is the body of the strategic planning process; the head is determining the market position, the arms are prioritizing objectives, managing the plan is the left leg, and reviewing/revising the plan is the right leg. All of these components need to work in unison to achieve the company's digital marketing goals. Along with that, a well-organized team of marketers is essential in developing sound digital media strategizing. This is because collaborating and discussing different perspectives is key to a well-rounded strategy.
